FILM FESTIVALS

(A) State Film Festival, Assam, 2005

A week-long festival of Assamese cinema was organized by Assam State Film (Finance & Development) Corporation (ASFFDC) in collaboration with the State Cultural Affairs Directorate during the first week of April, 2005. Titled as ‘State Film Festival' Assam’, the event was inaugurated by noted film personality Victor Banerjee. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, and Hon’ble Cultural Affairs Minister, Assam, were also present at the inaugural function as distinguished guests. Over 20 Assamese feature films including the National Award winning ones were shown in the festival.

(B) State Film Award, 2005

ASFFDC in collaboration with the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Assam has been presenting the State Film Awards for last six years from 1998. The colourful award presentation ceremony was held at Pragjyoti Cultural Complex, Guwahati on April 12, 2005, and the occasion was graced by noted film personality and legendary actor, Sunil Dutt. Altogether 26 awards were presented to the best films in different categories.

(C) Film Fest, 2005

ASFFDC organised a week-long festival from 6 to 12 May, 2005 under the aegis of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India. Inaugurated by noted film personality Amol Palekar in the presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister and Hon'ble Cultural Affairs Minister of Assam. The festival showcased 14 outstanding foreign films and six significant Indian films.
A National seminar on the topic "Coping with Competition: Regional Cinema", was also organized as part of the festival.

(D) Award Winning Assamese Film Festival in Delhi, 2006

An Award Winning Assamese Film Festival was held in January, 2006 at Sri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi in collaboration with Directorate of Film Festivals. Smt Mamoni Raisom Goswami, Jahnu Barua and Seema Biswas were present as guest speakers. The three day festival saw a huge crowd with international filmmaker Deepa Mehta and others attending the festival.

(E) Festival of Films from Assam with special focus on Bodo Cinema at Nandan, Kolkata

A three day festival was inaugurated by eminent actress Sharmila Tagore at Kolkata which was organized by ASFFDC in collaboration with Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India and Bodoland Territorial Council. The festival screened award winning Assamese films like Sarothi, Kanikar Ramdhenu, Dinabandhu, Nishidha Nadi and also showcased Bodo and Karbi films.

(F) Guwahati International Film Festival, 2008

ASFFDC organized Guwahati International Film Festival for Documentary, Short & Animation Films on 17th to 19th October, 2008 in collaboration with the Films Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Mumbai.

(G) Two Day Digital Film Workshop, 2009

The workshop was held in September, 2009 at Guwahati for the film makers of Assam. Faculty members from SRFTI, Kolkata and Anthony Dod Mantle, Cameraman of “Slumdog Millionaire” were invited as guest speakers to enlighten the film makers of this region on digital film making.

(H) North-East Film Festival, 2009

The ASFFDC organized the North East Film Festival held from 2 to 4 January 2009, in collaboration with North East Zone Cultural Centre, (NEZCC) Dimapur.

(I) International Film Festival, Goa, 2009

International Film Festival of India (IFFI), organized a special screening of Assamese films in Goa as part of celebration of 75 years of Assamese film in November, 2009. Veteran Film actresses-Gyanada Kakati and Bidya Rao were felicitated and honoured by Ministry of I & B. The Chairperson, ASFFDC, Managing Director ASFFDC, and Secretary, Cultural Affairs Department, Assam were invited to the festival.

(J) Students Film Festival, 2010

The ASFFDC organized Students Film Festival in collaboration with Film & Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune on 8th & 9th October, 2010 which showcased films made by the student of FTII, Pune.

(K) State Award Presentation, 2010

ASFFDC in collaboration with the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Assam organized the State Film Award on March 10, 2010.

(L) Children's Film Workshop, 2010

​ASFFDC and Children's Film Society of India jointly hosted the Children's Film Workshop on 27th and 28th October, 2010 and it was well attended by school children of different schools from Guwahati.

(M) 75 years of Assamese Cinema was organised in collaboration with the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Assam by screening old Assamese films for one week at Anuradha Cinema Hall, Guwahati.

(N) Kidfest, Assam, 2013

The Kidfest organized Children's Film Festival in collaboration with Children's Film Society of India from 19th March to 6th April 2013 in 10 districts of Assam, viz. Kamrup (Metro), Jorhat, Golaghat, Goalpara, Sivasagar, Bongaigaon, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Morigaon and Sonitpur. The Hon'ble Chief Minister, Assam, Hon'ble Cultural Affairs Minister, Assam and Hon'ble Chairperson, ASFFDC were present at the inaugural function held on March 19, 2013 at the Anuradha Cinama Hall, Guwahati.

(O) 13th Mumbai International Film Festival, 2014

Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentary/Short/Animation films organised by the Films Division, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India in association with Assam State Film (Finance & Development) Corporation Ltd. held from 4th to 9th Feb 2014 at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra auditorium.

(P) Mahabahu Utsav, 2014

Mahabahu Utsav was organised by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Assam and the Films screening was done by Assam State Film (Finance & Development) Corporation Ltd. on 9th and 10th Febuary 2014.

(Q) Mahabahu Utsav, 2015

It was organised by the Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Assam and the Films screening was done by Assam State Film (Finance & Development) Corporation Ltd. from 6th to 8th Febuary 2015.
